‘Shuddh Desi...was challenging’

New Delhi: Delhi girl Vaani Kapoor says she was nervous while shooting her debut film Shuddh Desi Romance opposite Parineeti Chopra and Sushant Singh Rajput as she had no prior acting experience.

Kapoor, who was picked through an audition to play the third angle in the  Jaipur-set love story by Yash Raj Films, says she felt a sense of responsibly to perform as well as the other big names that the banner has launched.

“When I got selected for the movie, it seemed more of a challenge and responsibility than fun. But, now that the film has done well at the box office, I am enjoying the process more. I was scared about disappointing my director Maneesh Sharma and Adi (Aditya Chopra),” said Vaani.

The 21-year-old model-turned-actress has signed a three movie contract with the banner and is currently filming the Tamil/Telugu remake of Band Baaja Baaraat.

Fearless Ranbir scared of dad Rishi Kapoor

Mumbai: Ranbir Kapoor says he doesn’t fear anything or anyone except his actor father Rishi Kapoor. The young Bollywood star, however, says he would be fearful the day some of the top directors stop wanting to work with him.

“I don’t fear anybody except my father. I am fearless. I will fear if I don’t get opportunities...if tomorrow Imtiaz doesn’t want to work with me or Anurag Basu doesn’t want to work with me then I will be scared,” Ranbir said.
Post his debut film Saawariya, Ranbir has been tasting success film after film. “I don’t let success go to my head. It’s (acting is) my job and I try to do my best,” he said.

Ranbir has shared the screen space with his parents - Rishi and Neetu Kapoor for the first time in the forthcoming film Besharam.

“I was nervous before. It’s been 30 years, and even today main apne papa se aankhen milake baat nahi kar paata (I can’t talk to him eye-to-eye). I’m quite scared of him,” Ranbir said.

“I thought how will I work with him and in this film I have said things to him like - ‘fat’, ‘dharti pe bojh’ and even abused him. My parents are so professional that when we are working together, they never make me realise that main tere baap hoon (I’m your father). They have encouraged me a lot,” he said.

Akshay’s grand entry shoot in Boss

New Delhi: Bollywood’s ‘khiladi’ Akshay Kumar shot a grand entry scene for his forthcoming movie Boss. He stands atop a tilted Mercedes car, which is seen moving on just two wheels.

The specially designed bright golden coloured Mercedes was imported from Europe to Bangkok and was modified according to the need of the stunts. It was Akshay’s idea to stand on the tilted car, read a statement.

A source close to the production team said that Akshay was pleasantly surprised to see the car and he loved its looks.

“Usually it is the action driver who balances the car on two wheels, but Akshay wanted to take this stunt further by standing on the car while the car was balancing on two wheels. Only someone with his vast experience of action and stunts could have pulled this off,” said the source.

Directed by Anthony D’Souza, Boss also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Shiv Pandit and Mithun Chakraborty.

The film will hit theatres on October 16.

Keen to work with Salman, says Deepika

Mumbai: Actress Deepika Padukone says she is keen to work with superstar Salman Khan but is waiting for something special to bring them together on screen.

Deepika had an acting debut offer from Salman, which happened way before she was chosen by Farah Khan for Om Shanti Om. However, she declined it then as she felt she was not ready to face the camera.

“He offered me my first film when I was too young and I was not ready to be in front of the camera. I will always be grateful to him. Just the fact that he offered me a film was a great thing. It is taking a long time for us to come together on screen, so I think there is something special waiting for us,” said Deepika.

The actress, who will be seen alongside south superstar Rajinikanth for the first time in Kochadaiyaan, says she admires his child like enthusiasm.

“I worked with him for three days and liked his simplicity, humility and child like attitude on the
sets. Despite achieving so much success he is so excited, enthusiastic and energetic even today, this is something that is inspiring to see,” she said.

A lot of appreciation is coming Deepika’s way with the success of films like Chennai Express, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Race 2, but the actress feels awkward when people compliment her.

All is well between Rani & Pamela!

Mumbai: Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra have always kept their alleged relationship well-guarded but the former’s arrival along with Aditya’s mother Pamela Chopra at the prayer meet of Madhuri Dixit’s father Shankar Dixit has further fuelled the controversy.

The actress arrived at the venue in Mrs Chopra’s car and then assisted her towards the prayer hall. The hand-in-hand walk was a treat for the onlookers as the shutterbugs captured the moment. The would-be saas and bahu seemed perfectly comfortable with the attention generated and were seen smiling and greeting each other cordially, putting the rumour of a rift between the two to rest.

Rani is known for playing her part well as an ideal would-be daughter-in -law to say the least. According to reports, Mukerji flew all the way to Switzerland along with Aditya to celebrate his mother Pamela’s birthday.

Rani, who has always been very secretive, loathes it when media creates hype over her liaison with Aditya. The actress was earlier seen sporting a single solitaire in her ring finger which set the rumour mill buzzing. Aditya’s lavish gift of a brand new Audi also did not go unnoticed.

According  to reports, Rani is addressed as ‘bhabi’ by the Yash Raj film staffers and the recent meet is just another occasion amongst many when the actress is spotted attending events with the Chopra family. In fact, Rani was also present with the bereaved Chopra family last year, when veteran director Yash Chopra expired.

Aggressive Salman forgets ‘Being Human’ with fans

Mumbai: There are many reasons to love Dabangg Khan. But the recent incident shifts the spotlight from his philanthropic human side and exposes the other side of Salman’s “Being Human” image.

Our reporter captured the superstar misbehaving with his fans.  According to reports, Salman Khan who was travelling in his Land Rover in Mumbai was suddenly caught off guard by his fans.

The moment they got a glimpse of the star, they started clicking pictures of him when his vehicle came to a halt at a traffic signal near Leelavati Hospital. Perturbed by the unwanted paparazzi Salman reportedly lowered the window pane of his car and summoned one of the boy to hand over his phone.
Hamid, who was one amongst many, clicking Salman’s pictures walked up to the star to hand over the phone. Taking Hamid’s phone, Salman started rummaging through its content and asked Hamid to leave. Puzzled with the development, when Hamid asked whether he should come to Khan’s house to collect his phone, the star slammed the device on the road below and sped away leaving the bystanders in a state of disbelief.
Sallu is known in the industry for his “I damn care attitude”, but action such as these are not expected from a star of his stature. This incident reveals that Khan, who has lent his star power for many social causes, and is called bhai by his admirers for his philanthropic ways surely has a devilish side to him. Ironically, just a day before, Salman invoked the almighty at Bigg Boss 7 launch to give him strength to control his satanic spirits and it took only one day for him to break his resolution. Now can this be called ‘Being Human’.

Irrfan not keen on playing older characters

Mumbai: Actor Irrfan Khan is not keen on playing old age characters as he does not want to be bracketed in that space.
“After Life Of Pi, a lot of people approached me to play the role of similar age bracket but I turned them down. I worry about getting bracketed in this space and hence I keep experimenting,” Irrfan said.

Irrfan has played older characters in movies like Namesake, Life of Pi and in his upcoming film The
Lunchbox
.
In Oscar-winning director Ang Lee’s Life of Pi Irrfan played the role of adult Piscine Molitor Patel (Pi). In The Namesake he essayed the role of Ashoke Ganguli, an immigrant from West Bengal.
“I instantly said yes to The Lunchbox as I loved the story. But the only thing I did not like was that I was
playing a character of an old age guy all over again. You really have to make yourself feel like an old man physically as well as mentally and it takes a lot to get out of such a mould,” Irrfan said.
“When I played an old man in The Namesake, it was difficult to get that character out of my system,”
he said. When asked how he manages to breathe life into every character, he says, “I look for my personal entertainment within each character that I play. If a character engages me I try to put my best to engage the audience with it.”

I am a lazy actor, says B’wood actress Kajol

Mumbai: Actress Kajol, who is now set to make another comeback to the big screen, says she is a lazy actor.

Kajol, 39, took a sabbatical from full-time acting in 2001 and returned to films with the 2006 romantic thriller Fanaa. But, afterwards she was only seen in cameo appearances.
She was last seen in a prominent role in Karan Johar’s home production We Are Family (2010).
“I am lazy. I can’t do more work or films beyond some extent. Two films a year is enough for me so  that I feel I am working. I don’t think of any film as mine till I start shooting for it. After I start working then it is mine. It is a healthy attitude,” Kajol said in an interview.
Asked what keeps her in demand despite not being in the limelight, Kajol said, “May be I am away from work, that is why I am in demand. I am working for more than 20 years, but I have done little work, handful of films. There are others who do three times or four times more films than I do.”
And now she is set to return with husband Ajay Devgn’s home production.
“It is a nice script and story but nothing to talk about it as of now. It is too premature,” she said.
But she also added that she will not be seen regularly in films as family is her priority now.
